Chipotle to add vegan soup to menu
Follow Adam on Twitter. You probably already know my thoughts on Chipotle’s supposedly revolutionary stance on animal exploitation. However, if you find yourself eating here among limited vegan-accommodating restaurants, you’ll be happy to know another vegan option may be coming your way. The company’s menu has been very static since its conception eighteen years ago. Since then, a vegan has typically been limited to the vegetarian entrée (sans sour cream or cheese) chips, and salsa.
Before getting too excited, CEO Steve Ells has mentioned possibly converting the pozole into its traditional form which usually includes meat. Presently the soup is vegan by default but can be included with meat for an extra charge.
Chipotle will also be testing an à la carte menu, breakfast options, and a kids menu in other parts of the U.S.
I personally prefer Qdoba, a similar baja Mexican chain which serves burritos, tacos, salads, chips, etc. They also have a tortilla soup option which, to the best of my knowledge, is vegan.
